Industrial land and mixed-use land occupies 196 hectares of the 1,331.5 hectares of urban land in Badalona, or 14.7% of the total. Of this, the net area occupied by activities is 83.8 hectares of industrial land and 39.7 hectares of commercial or commercial-industrial land, coming to a total of 123.5 hectares.

The city of Badalona has 5 industrial estates, Nord, Sud, Les Guixeres, Montigalà, Pomar and Bonavista, and one Business Park located on the Sur estate. The Les Guixeres estate and the Granland Business Park were developed recently, and the Bonavista estate is currently being extended.

Industrial land in Sant Adrià de Besòs occupies 68,6 hectares and has 2 industrial estates: Monsolis and El Sot. The most important sector is the service one (without considering retail trade) both in primary and in secondary areas. Metal transformer companies are also very important (over 25 % of the whole) and also paper, edition, wood and furniture companies (10 %). Montsolis (next to Barcelona) and El Sot (next to Badalona) estates concentrate all the energetic offer of the Barcelonès Nord.

THE MONTIGALÀ ESTATE

MontigalàBuilt in the late 1980s, the Montigalà estate has one of the largest supplies of fashion clothing in Europe in Pronto Moda, with more than 250 brands with their own designs. The Montsolís estate has a predominance of tertiary activities taking into account that the presence of retail trades is insignificant. 7 % of companies are construction ones and, as in the majority of the estates, between 22 % and 25 % of the activity is devoted to metal transformer companies and 14 % to paper, edition, wood and furniture companies.

EL SOT ESTATE

The main characteristic of El Sot estate is the presence of two big companies: Endesa, which even occupying a big area it only develops one economic activity (energetic industry) and Alcampo, a large commercial establishment which contributes to increase the importance of retail trades due to the large amount of economic activities located in it. 30 % of the activity is devoted to metal transformer companies and 9 % to paper, edition, wood and furniture companies. It is remarkable that the activity of this estate has not influenced the ground floors and premises of the adjacent streets.
